London Olympic organisers hand back 20% of hotel rooms
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has confirmed that approximately 20 per cent of the London hotel room nights it had reserved in London for the summer Olympics will be returned to the hotels for the public to book.
The BBC reports that the rooms, booked under a deal back in 2005, ‘no longer needed for Olympic officials, media and others during the games have been put back on sale to the public.’ The announcement, made by LOCOG on 29th January 2012, means that more than 120,000 room nights at more than 200 hotels will shortly be available to visitors to London this summer, in a range of prices to suit all budgets from 5 star to budget hotels.
Visitors wishing to book one of the available London hotel rooms for the London 2012 Olympics can access these hotel deals through two unique online London hotel booking services that connect live to the reservation system of each London hotel. LondonTown.com and HotelMap.com/London both show the availability of every room at each hotel in real-time. If customers prefer to book London accommodation by phone they can call the London Hotel Booking Line on 020 7437 4370.
With LondonTown.com’s hotel booking service you will also receive a unique welcome pack of London experiences when you book accommodation for this summer through LondonTown.com.
The London Olympics HotelMap can be found at HotelMap’s London Olympics Map. This map shows live hotel room availability at each hotel, along with the main priority road routes for the Games and the key stations from which visitors will travel to the Olympic events.
