Be part of Laguna Phuket Sea Turtle Release Ceremony in March

Travellers to Thailand this March will be able to get up close and personal with endangered creatures at the 18th Laguna Phuket Sea Turtle Release Ceremony.

Held annually at the Laguna Phuket resort area, the event sees turtles equipped with satellite tracking devices released into the ocean, thus helping to track migration patterns of the ancient creatures and safeguard their futures.

This ceremony has been taking place since 1994 to raise funds and awareness in support of the Royal Thai Navy Sea Turtle Release Programme, with more than $5,000 (£3,180) having been generated over the years.

People wishing to participate can do so by visiting the Angsana Laguna Phuket beachfront between 16:00 and 18:30 local time on the day.

For a donation of 2,500 baht (£51.60), guests will even be able to personally release a juvenile turtle themselves.

A wide variety of other fun activities will be on offer for attendees, including arts and crafts demonstrations, game booths, lucky dips and much more.

People with passions for wildlife and conservation can browse all manner of Phuket hotels at AsiaRooms.com, including the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Resort & Villas, located at this venue.
