Kuoni and the East India Company Join Forces to Bring Alive the Ancient Art of Tea Drinking

Kuoni has joined forces with the recently re-launched East India Company, to bring alive the ancient art of tea drinking at two exciting customer events to be hosted in The East India Company’s chic store at 7-8 Conduit Street, London, W1S 2XF on 06 and 15 November 2012, and one customer event to be hosted on the stunning SS Great Britain, a former passenger steamship now permanently docked in Bristol’s Great Western Dockyard, on 13 November 2012.

Granted a Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth 1 in 1600, The East India Company was founded by a group of enterprising merchants and businessmen to explore the mysteries of the East. It quickly began exploring new territories, mapping trade routes and discovering exotic goods all over the world. Its pioneers and adventurers established trading posts which would eventually grow into iconic world cities such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Mumbai.

So now Kuoni Travel is to bring alive the exotic destinations where the East India Company’s tea is grown to an audience who are interested in travel, discovery and the story behind how tea travels from plantation to porcelain cup.

Tea master, Lalith Lenadora who started at the age of 18 as a tea planter in his native Sri Lanka, will guide customers through the many exotic varieties of tea. The journey will include some of the world’s most interesting teas: rare white varieties such as Golden Tips, subtle green teas such as Dragonwell and Buttery Oolongs from Taiwan, rich black teas such as Rainforest Lumbini and Darjeeling First Flush to some romantic flowering teas such as Sacred Heart, and Thousand Year Red. Each tea is hand-selected by Mr Lenadora who will explain how to develop an understanding of the seasonal qualities of the teas and how to fully enjoy their unique flavours.

On the evenings, Kuoni’s personal travel experts will be on hand to bring alive the far flung destinations these teas are grown in and to talk to customers about holidays to these locations. Kuoni makes a point of hand-picking the best retreats, authentic travel experiences and hotels and tours that are exclusive to Kuoni guests.

At the events customers will be able to taste not only teas but also some of the exotic canapés, biscuits and chocolates that the company creates using their worldwide palette of influence. Customers will also have their names entered into a prize draw to win a flavour of the East India Trading company.

Authentic Cuba Travel Offers Incredible Access with their Havana Jazz Festival Tour

About the Festival

The 28th Havana Jazz Festival, or Jazz Plaza 2012, is sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Music and has been organized by world-renowned, 7-time Grammy winning musician Chucho Valdes. This year’s festival will run from the 20th to the 23rd of December and will take place at a number of locations in the historic Cuban capital. The tour itself spans from December 16th to December 24th.

Visitors and guests will find that the Havana International Jazz Festival is an event that no jazz lover should miss. In the past, the festival has played host to such talents as Dizzy Gillespie, Ronnie Scott, Luis Monge, The Ronnie Mathews Trio, and many more. In addition to global talents, you will find that the festival brings out Cuba’s finest jazz bands and soloists. Whether you want to experience the main performances or to enjoy the late night jam sessions between artists, you may wish to book your travel now, as festival tours are selling out quickly.

Visitors will find that live music and excitement will be on offer at venues throughout the city. The festival allows you to experience some of the world’s most amazing musicians while taking in the splendor of locations such as Karl Marx Theatre, Mella Theatre, Casa de la Cultura de Plaza, Palacio de La Rumba, and Casa del Alba. The festival is a unique opportunity to experience jazz music on the very island where it has its roots.

The Tour Experience

By booking a Havana Jazz Festival tour with Authentic Cuba Travel, you will get much more than just the chance to hear some of the world’s most remarkable jazz musicians. The tour will take you to some of Havana’s most important and historic locations, including a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You will also receive full access to all of the festival’s concerts, including premium seating at both the opening and closing ceremonies.

Booking a tour with Authentic Cuba Travel allows you to truly see why Cuba is one of the most remarkable islands in the Caribbean. While US-Cuban diplomatic relations are strained, relative isolation has helped keep the island authentic and provides a more genuine Cuban experience for travelers who have the chance to visit. Your tour itinerary will offer the chance to see the best that Havana and Cuba have to offer, including the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Cienfuegos City, Old Havana, Viñales Valley, and Trinidad. You will also get the opportunity to attend the shooting of the 9 O’Clock Cannon, a historic tradition that dates back to the 16th century, when a cannon shot was fired to signal military men to retreat from their positions and was later used to signal the close of the city walls during colonial times.

Literary and history buffs will also have the chance to experience the world as Ernest Hemingway did during the many years that the island served as his home. You will get the chance to explore Hemingway’s long-time home of Finca Vigia, where the writer spent more than two decades. You will also get the chance to tour the fishing village of Cojimar, which served as the inspiration and backdrop for Hemingway’s famed novel The Old Man and the Sea. In the village, you will find a bust of the author commemorating his impact on the village and its economy. Hemingway, like many visitors to Cuba, was renowned for his appreciation of fine Cuban cigars, and your visit will offer you the chance to tour the famed Partagas Cigar Factory, which has been in operation since 1845.

Hemingway isn’t the only local celebrity that plays a role in your tour experience. When you book with Authentic Cuba Travel, you will have the opportunity to rub shoulders and engage in conversation with many of the island’s most remarkable artists. Festival goers frequently get the chance to meet many of the performers, and your tour includes the opportunity to enjoy a lunch hosted by Jose Fuster- one of the island’s most renowned painters and ceramists. You’ll also get the chance to enjoy a private meeting with world famous architect Miguel Coyula during your visit to the Scale Model of Havana. Coyula is also Havana’s city historian, and his knowledge and appreciation for the city are certain to provide you with a deeper love and appreciation for Havana.

A Havana Jazz Festival Tour with Authentic Cuba Travel offers the chance to experience all of this and much more. A detailed itinerary leaves no stone unturned, providing beautiful accommodations and the chance to explore much of what makes Cuba one of the most amazing and enthralling travel destinations in the world. From breathtaking castles to the Jazz Festival itself, your tour creates an experience unlike any other.

An Advertising First: Jumeirah Brings The Luxurious Burj Al Arab To TV Audiences

Burj Al Arab launches its first TV ad promoting the iconic sail-shaped Burj Al Arab – often voted the world’s most luxurious hotel.

The new Burj Al Arab video – a TV advertising first for the luxury hotelier – invites holidaymakers visiting Dubai to “leave the ordinary behind” by indulging in a stay at the uber-luxurious property. In another exciting first for the company, Jumeirah’s social media fans and followers were treated to an exclusive preview of the visually impressive ad ahead of the world’s media.

Following a diver as he moves from the hotel’s rooftop to the Arabian Gulf Sea below, the advert subtly encourages holidaymakers to dive or otherwise immerse themselves in unparalleled luxury at the world famous hotel.

The advert not only showcases the Burj al Arab’s iconic exterior – itself one of the world’s most photographed structures – but also draws attention to the hotel’s panoramic views, sumptuous interiors and luxurious facilities.

The Burj’s helipad, Skyview bar, Club Suite, Assawan Spa and Health Club can all be glimpsed in the advert, as well as one of the hotel’s many gourmet restaurants and infinity pools, as the camera tracks a diver boldly travelling from sky to sea.

The Burj Al Arab has been designed to resemble a billowing sail, and stands at a height of 321 metres to dominate the glittering Dubai skyline. It is one of the most photographed structures in the world and has been consistently voted the world’s most luxurious hotel, with features including in-suite check-in and check-out, reception desks on every floor, round the clock private butlers and use of the hotel’s Rolls-Royce fleet and private beach.

The Burj Al Arab skyscraper also features 202 luxury hotel suites which range from 170 to 780 square metres with a rain shower and a Jacuzzi in each suite, as well as six award-winning signature restaurants, the Sinbad’s Kids Club and conference and banqueting venues.

The hotel is illuminated at night by choreographed lighting representing water and fire.

All guests staying at the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab hotel also have free unlimited access to the Wild Wadi Waterpark, which is the United Arab Emirates premier waterpark with over 30 rides and attractions.

Winter Walks, Great Ocean Walk, Victoria, Australia

WINTER hibernation is very boring when the Great Ocean Walk beckons – offering greater solitude, opportunities to see koala joeys emerging from the pouch, whales swimming the Southern Ocean and the warming welcome of the Aire Valley Guest House.

From May to October humpbacks and southern rights are seen almost daily from Victoria’s Great Ocean Walk which stretches 104 kilometres from the resort town of Apollo Bay to the famous limestone stacks the Twelve Apostles.

It’s a time when snakes have taken cover for the cooler months, the Great Aussie Salute is obsolete as flies have disappeared, and the crackling wood fires at Aire Valley Guest House are the perfect welcome home after a life-affirming day on the world-class Great Ocean Walk.

The Guest House, which also houses Victoria’s greenest restaurant, is offering a winter walkers’ package for the months of May, June and July which includes accommodation, a shuttle service to and from set-down points along the walk, lunch with salads hand-picked from their garden, and three course dinners made from the finest regional food.

Aire Valley Guest House owner and chef Annabel Tunley said their veggie patch was burgeoning with produce which would have a strong influence on the winter menu. Otways rack of lamb would be marinated in their home-grown garlic and rosemary and served with veggies picked minutes before serving.

With bumper crops of beetroot and pumpkin plumping up, the winter menu will feature homemade Borscht, and pumpkin soups. Annabel’s home-gown rhubarb crumble has been known to restore and reinvigorate tired walkers from their taste buds right down to their toes.

For walkers who like to photograph their experiences, winter in the Otways can be ethereal and moody or fully lit with brilliant blue skies and spectacular sweeping waves in Mediterranean blue crashing against the skyscraper sea cliffs.

For those wanting to spy native fauna in their natural habitat, kangaroos and wallabies tend to graze for longer during the daylight hours of winter, koala joeys can be seen in the safe and warm arms of their furry mums from late July, and it’s a great time to catch a glimpse of the Otways carnivorous snail – the fabulously named Victaphanta compacta.
