Here are 5 Reasons to go on Safari in East Africa during the Shoulder & Low Seasons

  1. Save Money East Africa is not the cheapest of African regions to visit. As the traditional heartland of African wildlife safaris, the prices in East Africa are higher than in most Southern African countries. These higher costs can put budget conscious travelers off, but the good news is that prices drop during the off-peak times of the year, bringing these classical safari destinations within reach. One of the reasons prices fall is because mainstream travel advice is to avoid the rainy seasons and that winter game viewing is best. Also, most travelers tend to travel during the northern hemisphere summer and over Christmas and New Years.
  2. You can save between 20 and 40% on safaris outside of the high and peak season.
  3. It’s not just the safari packages that are cheaper in low season, the accommodation rates drop saving you money on pre and post tour accommodation. Activities are also offered at reduced prices, as are day trips.
  4. If you’re travelling independently in Kenya during low season you also have more leverage for bargaining and negotiating better deals too.
  5. Flights are also cheaper, due to lower demand! All-in-all it can make an otherwise too expensive Nairobi safari affordable. We are able to enjoy the amazing moorlands, the beautiful snowcaps, mysterious oceans and seas and incredible wildlife. However, it is our responsibility to ensure that whilst we enjoy the marvels of this world we should be conscious of maintaining the conservation of these wonders.

The shoulder seasons which fall between the low and peak periods offer similar advantages to the low seasons. Falling at the start and end of the rains, the shoulder seasons are often the best time to go on safari travel in Kenyas Amboseli, Lake Nakuru and in terms of balancing cost, game viewing, visitor numbers and weather. The shoulder season between the long and short rains – from January to March, is actually considered by some safari veterans to be the best time to go game viewing in Kenya and Tanzania.

Nairobi National Park Tour in Kenya is the most popular to transit travelers at Nairobi Airport including delegates

Nairobi, Kenya, 2017-Jan-31 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — The best and most popular areas in Africa for safaris are East Africa precisely Kenya which offers vast plains and roaming packs of extraordinary beasts.

Many travelers come to Africa in search of the “big five”: buffalo, lions, leopards, elephants and rhinoceroses. The chance to get close to these animals in their natural habitats is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but your trip to the Africa is anything but a trip to the zoo. Safaris can be physically taxing and strenuous, and you may not see all the animals you expected. Since most safari destinations are in developing sub-Saharan nations, travelers must take certain safety and health precautions. If you’re planning a safari (or just dreaming about it), be as prepared as possible. Get some good guidebooks, talk to friends who’ve been to Africa and research, research, research. We’ve outlined some important safari basics, from choosing a destination to getting vaccinated, to help you start planning a successful African adventure such as short trip to the Nairobi National Park which can be booked online through https://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/nairobi-national-park or through our partner online travel agency Get Your Guide Nairobi National Park Tour -link https://www.getyourguide.com/nairobi-l267/nairobi-national-park-full-day-tour-t11393/

Nairobi, Kenya, 2016-May-30 — /EPR Network/ — Going on safari in Kenya https://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/kenya and Tanzania https://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/kenya/14-nairobi-safaris/long-safaris/14-adventure-in-the-african-bush during the off-peak seasons is a good option that does not spell game viewing disappointment and miserable weather. In fact, travelling in the low seasons – the long rains from March to June and the short rains from October to December – is an enticing option. The wet seasons (March to June and October to December) also have luminous sunsets and plenty of animals nurturing their young excellent reasons to brave the rain (which, by the way, is patchy rather than perpetual downfall).”

Travel Destination for 2016 is Kenya -Get the thrill and plan Early

Nairobi, Kenya, November 09, 2015 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — Destination Kenya

Are there any destinations in the world which can evoke such powerful imagery as Kenya, one of East Africa’s premier destinations? Indeed, the acacia-dotted savannahs of Kenya http://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/kenya re inhabited by classic African animals, from towering elephants and prancing gazelles to prides of lions and stalking leopards. The country also plays host to the annual migration, the largest single movement of heard animals on the planet. However, what makes Kenya truly stand out as a travel destination is the vast palette of landscapes that comprise this visually stunning country. While the flaunted image of the savannah of Maasai Mara perhaps the single key selling point for Kenya’s tourist industry, intrepid http://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=226/ travelers can also explore the barren expanses of the Rift valley, the glacial ridges of Mt. Kenya http://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=214/ and the beaches of the Swahili coast. This rich diversity of quintessential Africanhttp://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/safari-twiga environments present opportunity for hiking, trekking, diving sailing and so much more But to simply focus on Kenya’s wildlife and nature is to ignore the people that make this country so dynamic. Kenya is a thriving multicultural country with a wide cross-section of everything that is classic and contemporary Africa. Everyday life brings together traditional tribes and urban families, ancient customs and modern sensibilities. And, while much of the East Africa has suffered from bitter feud between divided ethnic groups, Kenya has usually been regarded as an island of stability in a trouble region. Kenya may be a somewhat more intimidating destination that it once was, but remains one of the undisputed highlights of Africa. Check your inhibition, ignore the hype, bring your sense of adventure and get ready for some truly inspiring and life-changing travel.

Planning a trip to Kenya is a pleasure in itself: the country is so versatile that it’s virtually a blank canvas, catering equally for the thrill-seekers and sun-seekers, budget backpackers and high-end rollers, those who like it tough and those who just want to get going. Whatever you do here, you’ll discover that it’s very straightforward to sort yourself out of the ground and advance plans are very necessary.

When to go to Kenya: The main tourist season is January, February and March, when the weather is hottest and driest. At this time, the animals in the wildlife parks tend to congregate more around the watercourses, making them easy to spot. However, the parks can get crowded and rates for accommodation soar –also make sure you avoid Christmas and Easter unless you want to pay much higher prices. From June to October, the annual wildebeest migration takes place, with thousands of animals streaming into the Maasai Mara National reserve from Serengeti. During the long rains (the low season April to May) things are much quieter.

Itineraries and Classic Routes
Classic routes put you face to face with the continent’s most charismatic creatures. Safari njema – have a good trip!
Departing from Nairobi, Kenyas capital city one can enjoy the Nairobi city tours at any point where low or high season. Our first port of call is Maasai Mara National Reserve http://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/maasai-mara. Between July and October, the Maasai Mara plays host to the annual wildebeest migration, which offers a definitive slice of safari Africa. Even if you can’t time your visit to coincide with this epic event, the Mara is still worth visiting as the famous national park in Kenya. The northern trails leads to Samburu National Reserve http://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/kenya/143-3-dayssamburu-by-road-lodges, a dusty, red, desert habitat that shelters’ species of animals not found elsewhere in Kenya. The safari trail continues down to Amboseli National Park http://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/kenya/142-3-days-amboselinational-park-by-road, which is regarded as one of the best places in Africa to get up close and personal with the heads of grazing elephants.

In search of the big five
The ultimate goal of any safari-gore is to spot the Big Five, namely lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant. While you’re going to have to put in a lot of hours to spot them all-particularly the elusive leopard – this itinerary will have you ticking them off the list in no time. Start your search at Lake Nakuru National park, an alkaline lake in the Rift Valley, which is home to many thousands of pink flamingos and pelicans. This vitally important national park also protects the country’s largest population of endangered black rhinos, as well as large herds of buffalo. From lake Nakuru, your next stop is the obligatory Maasai Mara National Reservehttp://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/maasai-mara-by-air-at-kichwa-tembo-tented-campwhich is veritable lion country, With a little luck you can spot leopards lounging in trees, and cheetahs prowling around the savannahs, from Maasai Mara head south to Naivasha and visit the Hells gate National park swim in the hot water sulfuric swimming pool belonging to the geothermal energy plant. Then head south to the Amboseli national park for a wildlife drive through Kilimanjaro court. Against a back drop of Africa’s tallest peak, you will see dozens of elephants. From Amboseli it’s straight forward drive to the Tsavo West National Park and Tsavo East National Park. Kenya’s largest wildlife parks. As they are relatively undeveloped. Tsavo East and West are where you can truly have a wildlife experience. From here you can head down to the highway to ancient Swahili port of Mombasa http://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/about-mombasa-safaris-, where you can either fly straight home or start a whole new journey exploring the Kenyan coast. Indeed, its’ just a short trip south west to the Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary a small but important reserve that protects elephants migratory routes, and on to the densely forested Shimba Hills National reserve http://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/about-mombasa-safaris-/230-mombasa-half-day-shiimba-hills home to the rare antelope.

Sun, Surf and Swahili
Whether you’re interest in exploring the remaining vestiges of Swahili culture, or simply kicking it on the beach for days on end, don’t miss the chance to explore Kenya’s sun-drenched coast. From the coastal getaway of Mombasa City, the first stop head south is Tiwi beach, a tranquil white-sand paradise that is popular with independents travelers. Just down the road, you can head on to the package holiday destination of Diani beach for a taste of the more full-on rest experience. Near the Tanzania Border are the Funzi and Wasini islands provide a dose of real, unspoilt coastal life and also afford easy access to the excellent Kisite Marine National Park. Here you can spot the Dolphins http://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/about-mombasa-safaris-/234-mombasa-one-day-wasini-dolphin-tracking-adventure-tourcrashing each other it’s a wonderful complement to Kenya’s terrestrial wildlife destinations.

Back to the coastal trail make a quick stop in the charming town of Kilifi before pressing on to the Arabuko Sokoke Forest Reserve on the largest remaining tracts of indigenous coastal forest in East Africa. Further north are the Gede ruins and ancient Swahili City that dates back to the 13th century. Another historic town along the Swahili coast is Malindi, a 14th century trading post that is now one of the country’s leading beach destinations for Italian holiday makers. Your itinerary can end its peaks at the wonderful Lamu archipelago a veritable tropical paradise and Swahili heritage gem. One can take up the Summer Package staying in Mombasa and travelling to the Tsavo Park and back.

Roads Less Travelled: Desert Frontiers
This unbeaten trail winds through the harsh and barren landscapes around Lake Turkana, which dominates the northwest corner of the country. The Eastern getaway to this region is the small town of Isiolo, Just north of Mt Kenya. There are several good national parks and wildlife reserve in this area. One can plough through straight to the desert route and head up the rough road to Marsabit the dusty tribal centre of this remote area which boasts a fine national park. Assuming you are not tempted to hope over the border to Ethiopia at Moyale, a real wild frontier, take the western loop to Turkana via North Horr heading for the tiny lake side settlement of Loiyangalani a base for trips into even more remote parts of the country. From here the trail leads through again passing all kinds of scenic zones and the stopover towns of South Horr and Baragoi. It’s worth stopping for a couple of days in Maralal to replenish supplies and sample the joys of camel-trekking. Your could end your trip here but for the full effect, head up to the other side of Turkana, passing though the lush western area around marich to reach sweltering Lodwar and the lovely lake shore at Eliye Springs http://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/kenya/260-952-for-3-days-package-to-lake-turkana.

When is the best time to spot animals?
When you visit Kenya’s parks and reserves, you’ll be spending a lot of time craning your neck and keeping watchful eyes out for animals and birds. There are a few telltale signs to note, as we as a few things you can do to maximize your chances of spotting the Big Five. Most are just common sense.

The best time to view wildlife to between 6.30am and 9.30am and from 3.30am to 6.30 pm. Cruzeiro Safaris makes sure they you during these timings. Wildlife drives in the mid of the day are unlikely to turn up much, (although there are popular parks such as Amboseli and Maasai Mara), animals are actually changing their normal hunting habits to avoid the tourist. When the tourists head back to the lodges for lunch, the carnivores go out hunting – in peace. In wooded country, agitated and noisy monkeys or baboons are often a sign that there’s a big cat (probably a leopard) around. Vultures circling are not necessarily an indication of a kill below. But if they are gathering in trees and seem to be watching something, you can reasonably assume they are waiting their turn for a go at a carcass.

One final note – taking longer safari is great, but endless long days peering out of a sunroof, on bumpy roads, in the heat, eating the same food stuck with the same people can take its toll quicker than you might think. Any animal you see on the first day will be exciting, though sooner or later most travelers will experience safari fatigue, that jaded feeling of ‘not another zebra, I wanna see a freaking leopard’. If this happens a few cultural activities and afternoon’s relaxations or even just a quick swim can do wonders for keeping things fresh. Or just take an air package especially for single travelers.

Conservation efforts and Cruzeiro-safaris.com

The migration has seen its ups and downs in the current past years, with some conservationist stating is abuse of wildlife privacy. Well, the county authorities have nothing much to do about it because they are making money. The myriads of visitors coming into Kenya in July and August are mostly attracted by the annual migration which is truly a wonder to see.

cruzeiro3

First timers sometimes feel also crumpled up in a dungeon with tour vehicles and personal vehicles circling around the poor wildlife since everyone wants to catch a glimpse of the activity. Whereas it’s positive to have the revenue from the visitors, it’s also a negative impression to them as well due to their perceptions when they gathered the information to come to Kenya. Whereas the Kenya Tourist Board has done massive marketing campaigns to draw visitors into Kenya, the behaviors experience in the past 3 years has been wanting.  Contrary to the county councils reserve, the areas surrounding are referred to as the conservancies which are controlled and they follow defined rules and laws. Such as type of vehicle and color, constructions types and colors which must blend with the environment. Distance between one vehicle and another to the wildlife (there is no overcrowding vehicles where the wildlife are – in other words there is no harassing the wildlife)

In the conservancies definitely the wildlife is considered the king. The vehicles and lodges inside blend with the natural environment, there is s a lot of cohesion between the lodge owners the community and the wildlife, however not many international visitors know about these lodges, because they don’t concentrate on mass tourists but on private, personal discreet tourist and probably why they charge a bit more higher than the rest of the lodges/ camps. Responsible tourism is emphasized in conservancies so that the surrounding communities that live near the wildlife greatly benefit in terms of being part of conservations and revenue growth and improved livelihoods.

Our emphasis is on one camp known as the Olkeri Mara Camp located in the Siana Conservancy. The Olkeri Mara Camp had 12 ensuite rooms; 10 standard and 2 deluxe. Accommodation is of the luxury type and personal service to ensure that all ones need is take care of. Olkeri can be fully booked by families or private parties with prices ranging from USD150 per person sharing in the low season to USD290 in the peak season for years 2014/2015. At Olkeri Mara the cuisine ranges from African, continental, Japanese and Italian – sweet savory Italian meals by Chef GABRIELLE Ballaroto. Game viewing from Olkeri is done in 4 wheel drives and once can feast their eyes on wildlife and birdlife. Night game viewing drives are available as well as hiking safaris.  Visitors are encouraged to stay at least for 3 nights to maximize on what the Area has to offer on a typical drive in one if those days one can take a walking safari with an experienced Maasai guide from 4pm upto one of the sundowner point have some refreshments and then embark on a night game drive to arrive the camp at around 8.30pm for dinner and overnight. Cruzeiro-Safaris.com does offer packages to Olekeri Mara for 3 nights / 4days for middle and up market clientele. All prices depend on the season applicable. Please send a request to thesales department for more details.

The #TembeaKenya campaign by MagicalKenyapromos has created awareness in the Domestic tourism front where Kenyan citizen, residents and Expatriate staff can travel at very discounted prices. Take Advantage of the Presidential directive for tax rebates for corporate who pay for their staff holidays within Kenya. Cruzeiro-safaris are offering to Olkeri Mara 1-30June, 2014 Double Room Kshs.11000 on full board and 1st July-15th October Kshs. 16000 on full board. Group travel can be discounted. London’s naughtiest schoolkids celebrated at Museum of Childhood

A new exhibition at the V&A Museum of Childhood will shed light on the sort of items London’s schoolkids try to sneak into school.Confiscation Cabinet has been put together by artist and teacher Guy Tarrant. His display cabinets will show artefacts gleaned from 150 different London primary and secondary schools over three decades. The items will be displayed at the V&A Museum of Childhood, London’s only museum devoted to children through the ages. The museum is located in Bethnal Green, a short journey from the City and West End. Visitors planning a trip to London should first check out LondonTown.com, London’s best website for details of cheap hotel rooms in London, with constantly updated information ensuring you will get the best price available.

The objects that will be displayed at the Museum of Childhood include homemade games, keepsakes, cult toys, peculiar adornments, weapons and other forbidden objects which characterise the flotsam and jetsam of contemporary school children and demonstrate the way things have changed over the past 30 or so years.

Since qualifying as a teacher, Guy Tarrant has investigated pupil interaction, play and resistant behaviour. The objects in the cabinets highlight mischievous and distracted behaviour played out in the controlled school setting where children spend so much of their time. These confiscated items are evidence of the pupils’ playful and impulsive activities and how they may reject or evade rules. They are also a fascinating record of children’s changing tastes over the years, as well as a reminder that kids have always been keen to find new and inventive ways to bend the rules about what they can and can’t take into London’s playgrounds. For more information on this and other exhibitions at the V&A Museum of Childhood, be sure to visit LondonTown.com, London’s most trusted source for news of events and exhibitions in the capital.

Pop Art Design

Pop Art Design, the Barbican Art Gallery ‘s latest exhibition, looks at the exchange of ideas between art and design in the popular, playful movement. While pop artists borrowed the visual language of the new media of the 50s and 60s – advertising, TV, commercial branding – designers reciprocated by creating 3D objects that were bright, fun and boundary-busting.

To demonstrate this creative dialogue, works by artists such as Peter Blake, Richard Hamilton, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol will be shown alongside furniture by mid-century modern greats such as Charles and Ray Eames, Ettore Sottsass and Achille Castiglioni. Among the highlights will be Studio 65’s rarely exhibited ‘Leonardo’ sofa (a deconstruction of the Stars and Stripes); Richard Hamilton’s ‘Gold Guggenheim’ (a model of the NY gallery covered in gold leaf) and Allen Jones’s provocative ‘Chair’ (a semi-naked woman with her legs in the air).

Running alongside the exhibition is a programme of pop-themed events including films, talks, exhibition tours, comics-making workshops (16 November), architectural walks (23 November), Italian architect and furniture designer Gaetano Pesce in conversation (27 November), graphic designer Nigel Waymouth in conversation (13 December).

Design fans looking for a hotel in London, including those serving London afternoon tea, can find and book nearby accommodation via LondonTown.com.

Wembley Welcomes Moldova For Vital World Cup Qualifier

On Friday 6th September, England are set to face Moldova at Wembley, in a World Cup qualifying match widely expected to end in a comfortable win for the home nation, if last year’s 5-0 victory over the footballing minnows at the Zimbru Stadium is anything to go by. The game will kick off at around 7.45pm, and travelling fans have learned of a number of discounted London hotels close to the stadium, announced in partnership with information and booking website LondonTown.com.

Roy Hodgson’s side go on to face their main Group H rivals Ukraine four days later in Kiev. The impending tough tie might prompt the Three Lions to play a little more cautiously against the Moldovans, but anything less than a convincing win will be considered a disappointment for fans.

If England can see off Moldova and Ukraine, they need only despatch group leaders Montenegro on October 11th to be assured of a place at the finals in Brazil next year. Three successive wins would take the pressure off during the recently announced final qualifying match against Poland, which will be played at Wembley on October 15th.

Hodgson’s players are currently sitting in second place, two points behind Montenegro and one ahead of Ukraine, with four matches remaining. In preparation for the upcoming qualifiers, England will meet Scotland in an international friendly, taking place in front of an 80,000-strong crowd at Wembley.

The recently re-opened Wembley Stadium is the second largest in Europe, and sits in North London, easily accessible via public transport from the city centre. To coincide with the Moldova match, LondonTown.com have announced a number of discounts on London hotels close to the stadium.

Located just a ten minute walk from Wembley Stadium on South Way, the Ibis London Wembley is clean, spacious, quiet and affordable. With the 61% discount offered via LondonTown.com, football fans can stay close to the action for as little as £43 per night.

Just as close is the Holiday Inn London-Wembley, which is offering twin rooms from £74 per night – an 81% reduction on the standard rate. Both London hotels featured here are available at the discounted rate only when booking through LondonTown.com. Visit the site for more information on England ‘s World Cup qualifiers, other upcoming events in the capital, and to see more discounted London hotels.

Eid in the Square vuelve a Trafalgar Square en agosto

Peter Pan: The Never Ending Story World Arena Tour

This August, a new, thrillingly ambitious production of Peter Pan is coming to London as part of a worldwide arena tour. JM Barrie’s children’s classic is directed by Luc Petit, and is one of the more extravagant interpretations of the book, featuring pop and rock songs interwoven throughout the familiar plot. It will run at Wembley Arena from August 21-26.

This staging of ‘Peter Pan: The Neverending Story’ is the work of Belgian production company Music Hall’s Geert Allaert. As artistic director, Allaert has realised an appropriately fantastical vision of Neverland using CGI mapping to create a backdrop of cinematic quality.

The 50-strong cast of actors, singers, acrobats and stunt artists soar through the air using wind turbines and bungees, eliminating the need for unsightly harnesses. The choreography is the work of Petit and Martino Muller, who has previously designed moves for Cirque du Soleil.

The £10 million production includes music to match the spectacle on stage. Musical director Matt Dunkley – who has written scores for Moulin Rouge, Love Actually and The Pirates of the Carribean – has adapted and arranged songs by Duran Duran, Robbie Williams and Rod Stewart.

Tickets for the show range from £20-£45. Evening shows commence at 7pm, with two matinees at 3pm on August 24th , 25th and 26th. An additional 11am show will take place on August 25th. To book tickets, and for further information, visit LondonTown.com.

The website has also announced details of reduced rates on select hotels in London , all situated within walking distance of Wembley Arena. The discounts are available exclusively through LondonTown.com.

Among the hotels in London on offer, Hilton London Wembley is offering one bedroom suites from £199 per night – a 60% discount on the standard rate. The Hilton is a stone’s throw from Wembley Arena.

For more modest accommodation, the Holiday Inn London Wembley is offering an 81% discount on twin rooms, bringing the cost of a night’s stay down to £74. The Holiday Inn is around three minutes’ walk from Wembley Arena, as is the Quality Hotel, which has announced half off double rooms for people booking via LondonTown.com. The discount makes the nightly rate just £71.
