Here are 5 Reasons to go on Safari in East Africa during the Shoulder & Low Seasons

  1. Save Money Kenya is not the cheapest of African regions to visit. As the traditional heartland of African wildlife safaris, the prices in Kenya are higher than in most Southern African countries. One of the reasons prices fall is because mainstream kenya travel advice is to avoid the rainy seasons and that winter game viewing is best. Also, most travelers tend to travel during the northern hemisphere summer and over Christmas and New Years.
  2. You can save between 20 and 40% on safaris outside of the high and peak season.
  3. It’s not just the Kenya safari packages that are cheaper in low season, the accommodation rates drop saving you money on pre and post tour accommodation. Activities are also offered at reduced prices, as are day trips in attractions in Nairobi Kenya.
  4. If you’re travelling independently in Kenya during low season you also have more leverage for bargaining and negotiating better deals too.
  5. Flights are also cheaper, due to lower demand! All-in-all it can make an otherwise too expensive Kenya safari affordable. We are able to enjoy the amazing moorlands, the beautiful snowcaps, mysterious oceans and seas and incredible wildlife. However, it is our responsibility to ensure that whilst we enjoy the marvels of this world we should be conscious of maintaining the conservation of these wonders.

The shoulder seasons which fall between the low and peak periods offer similar advantages to the low seasons. Falling at the start and end of the rains, the shoulder seasons are often the best time to go on safari in Kenya in terms of balancing cost, game viewing, visitor numbers and weather. The shoulder season between the long and short rains – from January to March, is actually considered by some safari veterans to be the best time to go game viewing in Kenya.

Many travelers trek to Africa in search of the “big five”: buffalo, lions, leopards, elephants and rhinoceroses. The chance to get close to these animals in their natural habitats is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but your trip to the Africa is NOT a zoo. Safaris can be physically taxing and strenuous, and you may not see all the animals you expected. Since most safari destinations are in developing sub-Saharan nations, travelers must take certain safety and health precautions. If you’re planning a safari (or just dreaming about it), be as prepared as possible. Get some good guidebooks, talk to friends who’ve been to Africa and research, research, research.

Cruzeiro Safaris take on travel advisories lift TELL TRAVELERS TO TRAVEL

Nairobi, Kenya, July 30, 2015 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — Tour operators and hoteliers in Kenya are finally having a breather after the travel advisories by the British government were lifted sometime in June, 2015. One can read the full statement on the FCO website for the British embassy. The coming of the President of the United States of America is another plus and boost to the tourism industry. Now travelers can flock the country Kenya with confidence.

The East African Adventure is awaiting all travel enthusiasts to enjoy last minute deals or just plan ahead for the long term safari adventure in 2015 and 2016. One thing for sure is that the annual migration of the wildebeest is still taking place regardless of the presence of any audience. Adventure travelers can take advantage of the 3 country VISA option for Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. As we write this article we received a new circular British and Irish Nationals need a VISA to enter Kenya. The single entry visa allows a re-entry to Kenya from Tanzania and Uganda. Other arrangements can be made to Ethiopia and Zambia.

With the successful safari of camel derby in 2013 where we took a group of people and they won several awards in the derby, this year 2015 we anticipate to take even a large group of people. The takes place from 14-16 August, 2015 in Maralal, Samburu County. We have more information on our website and how to bookhttp://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/kenya/274-fansof-maralal-carmel-derby-

Starting off is Kenya with its adventurous Game reserves or National Reserves which are set up and managed by the local authority where they located. The local communities interact freely with the wildlife before such areas are declared game reserves. Unlike National Parks, the local communities are allowed to live and graze their animals in game reserves. For example, the Maasai people live and graze their animals in Maasai Mara without being restricted by the management of the park. Game reserves may also be set up and owned and managed by private individuals with special permission from the Central Government. Golf holidays with adventure are also increasingly becoming popular. Adventures and sports enthusiasts are not left behing with the amazing 20days safari in Kenya and Tanzania with highlight visits to:

  • Maasai Mara National Reserve
  • Lake Nakuru National Park
  • Lake Naivasha National Park
  • Hells Gate National Park – cycling, walking, oljorowa gorge, sulphuric pool
  • Mount Longonot National Park
  • climbing the crater approx 20kms
  • Aberdares National Park
  • Karura falls
  • Mount Kenya National park -mount climbing
  • Sweetwaters Sanctuary or Samburu National reserve
  • Amboseli National Park
  • Tarangire National Park
  • Serengeti National Par
  • Ngorongoro Crater  and Park
  • Olduvai gorge
  • Lake Manyara National Park
  • Nairobi  and Arusha
  • Carnivore restaurant
  • Nairobi City tour
  • Shopping

Safaris from Mombasa city which is located along the Kenyan Coast, has numerous beach resorts and apartments that one can choose from. City tours of Mombasa and Safaris to Tsavo and Amboseli Parks and the Summer package can be arranged.

We then head to the adventure of Gorilla trekking either in Uganda or Rwanda but we emphasize on Rwanda this time. Another breed of the Golden monkeys is also within reach from the Volcanoes National Park. The Golden monkey is a local sub-species of the widespread Sykes Monkey, also known as the ‘Blue Monkey” and is endemic to the high altitude forest of the Volcanoes National Park areas. The monkeys are playful and inquisitive and often spend time leaping form bamboo branches or flicking on the forest floor. Visitors are permitted to stay for 1 hour with the Golden monkeys just as with the Mountain Gorillas. In 4 days you can spend time in Rwanda on full adventure.

As much as it’s not on the agreement for the #EACVISA, Tanzania is also worth visiting. When we talk of Tanzania what comes in mind is its fame of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti or the spice Island of Zanzibar that comes in to our minds. Even though some tourist destinations have remained unpretentious and have hardly been exposed to the outside world. Departing on Sunday they offer 12 days of the Best of Tanzania and Zanzibar.

Another adventure that one can combine with the above 2 is the visit to Victoria Falls in Zambia or famously knows as Vic Falls. Taking a 5 day trip to the Livingstone area, Botswana for a river safari get on the 4×4 trucks for a game driver in the Chobe National park, take a guided tour to Vic falls and fly over the falls with a helicopter. Later on take a sunset cruise on Zambezi River. They package it to fly from Nairobi’s capital and return there. This makes it easy for one to just book their inward and outbound flights from home to Nairobi.

Short tours or trips can be organized locally from Nairobi, Mombasa or Arusha.

This is the right season for travelers all over the world to head to Kenya.

LondonTown.com: London landscapes celebrated in new exhibition

South London parks are the subject of new photographic exhibition at the Horniman Museum.

LONDON, June 08, 2015 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — A new photographic exhibition celebrating London’s lesser-known landscapes open this month at one of London’s friendliest museums. South London Landscapes is now open at the Horniman Museum And Gallery this week and runs throughout the summer, featuring photographs of the Horniman itself as well as other picturesque public spaces in and around south London. The Horniman is one of London’s liveliest small museums, boasting excellent natural history and music galleries, a small aquarium and extensive landscaped grounds. For more information, and to see the latest deals on London hotels, see LondonTown.com.

South London Landscapes features photographs taken by London-based landscape photographer Max A Rush. The photographs, which include pictures of the Horniman Gardens, are taken in unusual and beautiful weather and capture how the passage of the seasons and the forces of the weather transform the appearance and character of the local landscape. Areas featured in South London Landscapes include Brockwell Park, Crystal Palace Park, Dulwich Park, Dulwich Wood, Ruskin Park and the Horniman Gardens.

Max Rush says: ‘These are a few of my favourite locations around south London. I’ve continually returned to them over the years, watching the seasons pass and the elements batter, freeze and occasionally warm their well-worn faces. I’ve witnessed moments of transcendental beauty in familiar places and endeavoured to capture them as truthfully as I can. So many people fight their way out of the city every week for the sake of nature, but perhaps what they’re looking for was here all along.’ For more information on this and other exhibitions and events taking place at the Horniman this summer, see LondonTown.com.

LondonTown.com: Cutting-edge US artist receives first major European show in London this summer

Raven Row gallery in Spitalfields hosts a retrospective of ground-breaking US artist Larry Johnson.

LONDON, June 08, 2015 — /EPR NETWORK/ — One of America’s most interesting contemporary artists is to receive his first major European exhibition at a new gallery that focuses on cutting-edge, avant-garde art. Raven Row is a non-profit contemporary art exhibition centre in Spitalfields that is housed within two eighteenth-century merchants’ houses integrated with new galleries and its next exhibition, Larry Johnson: On Location runs from 11 June to 9 August 2015. It is directed and funded by Alex Sainsbury of the Sainsbury family, whose family have funded many great art projects in London, such as the Sainsbury Wing of the National Gallery. Raven Row is a very different enterprise, offering thoughtful shows on lesser-known artists and allowing visitors to explore the fascinating quarter of Spitalfields. The area is filled with fashionable boutiques, great shops and cool bars and restaurants. To explore its attractions, see LondonTown.com, where you can also find the latest room rates for hotels in London.

On Location brings together a selection of works by Larry Johnson from the early 1990s to the present. The show’s uncontested star is Los Angeles, the city in which Johnson has lived and worked all his life. For over thirty years, LA’s physical and imaginary appearance has served as the set for the artist’s photo-based investigations of the glamour industry, replete with fading stars and premature deaths. Johnson’s work bears the marks of a generation of artists sampling readymade images and texts to create seductively laconic pictures. Yet the colourful sheen of Johnson’s photo-based works is also a foil for sexual, political and semantic tension. The artist’s pictures are encryptions of a Hollywood demi-monde, referring to the cultures from which his work emerges queer, political, filmic and theoretical.

The exhibition is curated by Los Angeles-based writer Bruce Hainley, and by Antony Hudek, Curator and Deputy Director of Raven Row. Commie Pinko Guy, a publication edited by Hainley with new essays by Morgan Fisher, Lisa Lapinski, Hainley, Hudek and Wayne Koestenbaum, as well as reprints of classic underground queer writing, will accompany the exhibition. For more information on this and other exhibitions in London’s cutting-edge contemporary art scene, see LondonTown.com.

LondonTown.com: Exciting family events lined up this Easter in London

London will be full of exciting things to do this Easter, including at the Foundling Museum in Bloomsbury, where several events are being lined up. The Foundling Museum is a gallery and museum near King’s Cross that explores the history of the Foundling Museum, a charitable institution founded in 1700s for orphans, with principle benefactors including William Hogarth and George Frederic Handel. This Easter it will be holding several events alongside its current exhibition, Sir Jacob Epstein: Babies and Bloomsbury. For more on this exhibition, see LondonTown.com, where you can also find the latest information and deals on London hotels, shops and restaurants.

Over Easter, the Foundling Museum will be holding a talk on sculptor Jacob Epstein with curatorial advisor Agi Katz as well as a walking tour around the historic Bloomsbury in which Epstein lived and worked. To celebrate the history of the Foundling Hospital’s Boy’s Band, they will be holing a Band Day, an all day tribute to the hospital’s history with music and the military, including family workshops and live music from the Camden Concert Band. There will also be a performance from award-winning folk trio Moore Moss Rutter.

The events begin on Sunday 5th April with a talk and concert related to Jacob Epstein. At 2pm, Agi Katz will consider whether it was Epstein’s humanity or skill that made him a great portrait sculptor. It will be followed by a piano recital from Maite Aguirre. Folk At The Foundling takes place on 17th April at 7pm, with a performance from award-winning trio Moore Moss Rutter, who bring their ‘intelligently crafted musical adventures’ to the museum as they kick off their summer tour. On Sunday 19th April at 1pm, the Foundling Walk will take place. This begins from the nearby British Museum and will allow walkers to discover more about Epstein’s loves and artistic inspiration whilst taking in a wealth of statues and sculptural works that depict famous figures of Bloomsbury’s history, culminating at the Foundling Museum.

Finally, Band Day takes place on Saturday 25th April from 11am to 4pm. This takes the form of a family day of live music, talks and workshops to celebrate the history of The Foundling Hospital’s Boys’ Band. Camden Concert Band will perform outside the museum near the grounds of the original Foundling Hospital, recreating musical sounds once familiar to the area. A family workshop will run during the day, where children can make their own Band Day instruments, alongside talks on the history of the Boys’ Band. For more information on this and other events in London this Easter, see LondonTown.com.

LondonTown.com: New London museum located in notorious hospital

Bethlam Royal Hospital hosts new permanent Museum Of The Mind.

LONDON, March 23, 2015 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — One of the most notorious psychiatric hospitals in history – Bethlam Royal Hospital, which gave its name to the word ‘bedlam’ – will be opening a pioneering gallery and museum on its premises this month. The new displays will be filled with the personal stories – both historic and contemporary – of those who have experienced mental health difficulties and will explore the long, controversial and often misunderstood history of Bethlem, founded 1247 in central London. Bethlem Gallery and Museum of the Mind opens on 19 February 2015. The Bethlam Royal Hospital has occupied various sites, including the building now used by the Imperial War Museum in Waterloo, and is now located in Beckenham, a short journey by train from the centre of London. To see other attractions in the area and learn how to get to Beckenham, as well as finding up-to-date information on hotels in London, see LondonTown.com.

The Bethlem Gallery and Museum of the Mind will occupy the hospital’s original 1930s administration building and celebrate the lives and achievements of those living with mental ill-health. Themed gallery spaces will explore the reasons why people arrive at Bethlem, aiming to inspire discussion, debate and reflection on mental health issues which are as relevant today as they were in the past. The museum will house significant art and historical artefacts, almost all of which will be on display for the first time, as well as works by current artists and hospital service users.

Among the highlights are paintings and drawings by Richard Dadd, Louis Wain and Jonathan Martin, each of whom was a former Bethlem or Maudsley Hospital patient; and the oldest objects in the collection, the imposing statues, ‘Raving and Melancholy Madness’ by Caius Gabriel Cibber (c1676) which originally stood above the gates of the 17th century ‘Bedlam’ at Moorfields. They will now take their place either side of the art deco staircase directly ahead of visitors entering the new museum. Notable paintings from the internationally renowned art collection include ‘The Maze’ by William Kurelek (1953), ‘Sketch of an idea for Crazy Jane’ by Richard Dadd (1855), ‘Numb’ by Lisa Biles (2009) and ‘Phrenology’ by Louis Wain (1911). Each of these will be on permanent display.

The exhibition will include striking images by Victorian photographer Henry Hering of Bethlem patients taken before and after treatment in order to detect their mental health conditions through facial expressions and features. The collection will also feature a key to the gates of the 18th century hospital, 19th century manacles, chains, straitjackets and other physical restraint devices, comments and letters from visitors from the 18th century up until today and 19th century admission and discharge registers.

LondonTown.com: London Zoo’s lemurs get brilliant new home

In With The Lemurs, a new home for the primates, opens next month at London Zoo.

LONDON, March 23, 2015 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — London Zoo is getting a new attraction next month in the shape of a swanky new walk-through home for the zoo’s playful troop of 16 lemurs. In With The Lemurs is a fine new base for the lemurs at the zoo, nestled as it is in the heart of leafy Regent’s Park, kitted out with the best accessories and with a desirable NW1 postcode. The new lemur attraction opens on Saturday 28th March at London Zoo. For more information on the zoo and other attractions in the area, as well as the best deals for a hotel in London, see LondonTown.com.

The lemur pen will be home to 15 ring-tail lemurs and one black and white ruffed lemur. Designed by the zoo’s expert keepers and horticulturalists,  In With The Lemurs will take visitors on a journey through the Madagascan shrub forest where the evolutionarily unique primates will be leaping, climbing and lounging all around them. Renowned sun-worshippers, the lemurs love nothing more than an afternoon spent sunbathing. With this in mind the zoo’s dedicated architects have carefully mapped the path of the sunlight on the new exhibit to ensure their basking platforms are purposefully located to maximise lounging time.

With an uncertain future in the wild, lemurs face a daily struggle to survive due to extensive habitat loss, and over-hunting. In With The Lemurs will give the zoo’s visitors a glimpse of these threats in the exhibit’s replica timber mill, highlighting the devastating effect the industry has on the lemurs’ wild habitat. Ring-tail lemurs are classified as endangered on the IUCN red-list, as are black and white ruffed lemurs, which are also listed on international conservation charity ZSL’s EDGE of Existence programme, due to the threat to their survival and evolutionary distinctiveness. The new attraction will help ensure that London Zoo remains one of Europe’s leading zoos in the way it combines fascinating attractions with sympathetic environments, following recent transformations of the enclosures for lions, tigers and gorillas. For more information on London Zoo, including location, travel information, admission prices and opening times, see LondonTown.com, the best London website for tourists and visitors to the capital.

LondonTown.com: Christmas classical concert in prestigious London gallery

LONDON, December 04, 2014 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — One of London’s leading art galleries will branch out into the world of music this weekend, when it celebrates the arrival of Christmas by staging Handel’s Messiah in two evening performances. The National Portrait Gallery’s Portrait Choir will be giving their first ever public concerts at the Gallery after opening hours when they perform Handel’s Bible-inspired oratorio and Christmas concert favourite in the Victorian galleries on the evenings of Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December. The National Portrait Gallery is one of London’s most popular galleries, located just off Trafalgar Square in the West End. For more about the gallery and other events and exhibitions in the area, see LondonTown, where you can also find the most up-to-date listing and booking information on London hotels, restaurants, shops and bars.

With its popular Amen and Hallelujah  choruses and dramatic retelling of the life of Christ, Messiah will be performed close to the Gallery’s famous portrait of the composer sitting with his copy of the work. The Portrait Choir are part of the first Choir in Residence programme at any museum or gallery in Britain. They will be joined by the Royal College of Music Baroque Orchestra and members of acclaimed ensemble Florilegium. The setting of the Victorian Galleries, surrounded by paintings of grand nineteenth-century figures, adds to the sense of occasion. During the day, visitors will be able to hear members of the Royal College of Music perform free chamber music recitals of works by Handel directly underneath the composer’s portrait. The Portrait Choir is in residence at the National Portrait Gallery at least five times a year and performs a wide repertoire of choral works in gallery spaces which relate to portrait themes,

The Handel portrait, which was painted for Handel’s friend Charles Jennens, was in 1968 the first painting to be acquired by the Gallery by public appeal. A gala performance of the oratorio to raise funds for the portrait was given at the Royal Albert Hall with Dame Joan Sutherland as soprano soloist. It was by Thomas Hudson (oil on canvas, 1756) and shows the great composer in old age and by now blind, with the score of Messiah in front of him open on a table. Travel & Leisure Group Announces Launch of New Website

Sudbury, Suffolk, United Kingdom, November 17, 2014 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — Travel and Leisure Group, Europe’s longest running timeshare & fractional resale broker, are pleased to announce the launch of their new website.

Managing Director, Maria Farinas said “We are very excited by the launch of our new website. Over recent years, with the advancement of new technologies, the demands and expectations of customers has grown, particularly with regards to mobile devices. With smartphones and tablets replacing PCs as the default computing device for many consumers, as a company we need to recognise this and react accordingly. We have also found that more and more people find and use our website whilst on holiday so catering for mobile devices is now a top priority. The old version was looking dated and with Travel and Leisure being one of the oldest and most trusted timeshare resale broker in Europe, it made sense to move with the times.”

The design and development was headed by our in-house tech guru Jim Wilson along with visual creation designer Soo Smart, from Double S Design. The design brief was to create a lightweight, sleek, stylish, website using the latest platform that was responsive to all technologies, desktop and mobile. It also needed to be future-proof for technological advancements in the future.

Maria Farinas continues “Jim and his team have done an excellent job, far above our expectations. The new website is a sleeker model of the original keeping Travel and Leisure Groups integral business model. The new website offers quick and easy access to timeshares for sale and rent and has detailed information for anyone looking to buy, sell or rent holiday ownership. Anyone looking to buy timeshare can browse through over 4000 resorts around the world with the site giving much speedier search results. The site is full of new features which includes a new client area where clients can personalise their property details.

Currently available in English, the planned deployment of the remaining foreign language websites (including Spanish, Italian, French and Norwegian) will happen over the forthcoming weeks.
