Krystal Hauserman: I am thrilled the WFTA awarded me its top honor in the category of food travel blogging

LOS ANGELES, 2017-Apr-10 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — Taste of Adventure’s Krystal Hauserman has been named Best Food Travel Blogger by the World Food Travel Association (WFTA) as part of its 2017 FoodTrekking Awards for excellence in food and beverage tourism.

“Writing high-quality stories with thoughtful insider tips that help travelers access the heart and soul of a place by making meaningful connections with the local people is my passion, and food and wine is a great catalyst for making those connections. I am thrilled the WFTA awarded me its top honor in the category of food travel blogging for my content on Taste of Adventure!” said Krystal Hauserman, Founder and Director of Content for Taste of Adventure.

Rather than another “Top 10” or “Best Restaurants” list, the FoodTrekking Awards are unique in that they fill a void of recognition of excellence in experience in multiple categories within the food and beverage tourism industry. Food and beverage is the fastest-growing sector of travel, itself one of the world’s largest and most economically significant industries.

The multi-national judging panel included seven experts in culinary tourism.

Here are 5 Reasons to go on Safari in East Africa during the Shoulder & Low Seasons

  1. Save Money Kenya is not the cheapest of African regions to visit. As the traditional heartland of African wildlife safaris, the prices in Kenya are higher than in most Southern African countries. One of the reasons prices fall is because mainstream kenya travel advice is to avoid the rainy seasons and that winter game viewing is best. Also, most travelers tend to travel during the northern hemisphere summer and over Christmas and New Years.
  2. You can save between 20 and 40% on safaris outside of the high and peak season.
  3. It’s not just the Kenya safari packages that are cheaper in low season, the accommodation rates drop saving you money on pre and post tour accommodation. Activities are also offered at reduced prices, as are day trips in attractions in Nairobi Kenya.
  4. If you’re travelling independently in Kenya during low season you also have more leverage for bargaining and negotiating better deals too.
  5. Flights are also cheaper, due to lower demand! All-in-all it can make an otherwise too expensive Kenya safari affordable. We are able to enjoy the amazing moorlands, the beautiful snowcaps, mysterious oceans and seas and incredible wildlife. However, it is our responsibility to ensure that whilst we enjoy the marvels of this world we should be conscious of maintaining the conservation of these wonders.

The shoulder seasons which fall between the low and peak periods offer similar advantages to the low seasons. Falling at the start and end of the rains, the shoulder seasons are often the best time to go on safari in Kenya in terms of balancing cost, game viewing, visitor numbers and weather. The shoulder season between the long and short rains – from January to March, is actually considered by some safari veterans to be the best time to go game viewing in Kenya.

Nairobi, Kenya, 2017-Jan-31 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — The best and most popular areas in Africa for safaris are East Africa precisely Kenya which offers vast plains and roaming packs of extraordinary beasts.

Many travelers come to Africa in search of the “big five”: buffalo, lions, leopards, elephants and rhinoceroses. The chance to get close to these animals in their natural habitats is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but your trip to the Africa is anything but a trip to the zoo. Africa Safaris to the Lake Nakuru National Park Tour is the most popular among conference delegates

Nairobi Kenya, 2016-Jul-22 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — Each country in Africa is different. We acknowledge that it is impossible to capture the spirit and culture of an entire country in one paragraph. The best and most popular areas in Africa for safaris are East Africa precisely Kenya which offers vast plains and roaming packs of extraordinary beasts.

Lake Nakuru National Park Tour

The Lake Nakuru National Park tour which can also be booked online through Get Your Guide booking site or https://www.getyourguide.com/nairobi-l267/lake-nakuru-national-park-full-day-tour... has become increasingly popular to the delegates attending conferences in Nairobi Kenya. The main reason being the proximity to Nairobi and the time taken which is about 11 hours. While delegates spend their time in meeting rooms and discussion at the end of the day they end up very tired. To unwinding before going back to their countries of residence an 11 hour tour from Nairobi comes in handy. Ones get to see the countryside of Nairobi as well as wildlife and birds at the National Park. The tour is mainly set to depart at 6am and return at 6pm making it easy for clients to connect to their international flights which are normally scheduled in the late evenings. However, if the flight is early one can request for an early arrival or take a full day tour in Nairobi visiting the Nairobi National Park, Elephant Orphanage, Giraffe center, Karen Blixen with lunch at the famous top 100 restaurants of the world the Carnivore Restaurant. Better still a short morning tour to the Nairobi National Park and elephant Orphanage can suffice.

Many travelers come to Africa in search of the “big five”: buffalo, lions, leopards, elephants and rhinoceroses. The chance to get close to these animals in their natural habitats is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but your trip to the Africa is anything but a trip to the zoo. Safaris can be physically taxing and strenuous, and you may not see all the animals you expected. Since most safari destinations are in developing sub-Saharan nations, travelers must take certain safety and health precautions. If you’re planning a safari (or just dreaming about it), be as prepared as possible. Get some good guidebooks, talk to friends who’ve been to Africa and research, research, research. We’ve outlined some important safari basics, from choosing a destination to getting vaccinated, to help you start planning a successful African adventure such as a day trip to the Lake Nakuru National Park which can be booked online through VIATOR

It’s very important to get yellow fever certificate while entering Kenya and if possible have a prepaid VISA which saves you time at the busy Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Also Pre-book your Taxi from Nairobi Airport for your hotel transfer.https://www.viator.com/tours/Nairobi/Private-One-Way-Nairobi-Airport-Transfer/d5280-10067P1

Holidays are everybody’s ideal way to relax and see the world. As our guests get to experience the wildlife and other products we have to offer such conservation is of outmost important. We support conservation by preferring to prioritize Eco-lodges and thereafter the other camps and Budget Camps as well. The Amboseli National Park is very near Nairobi about 3 hours drive one way https://www.cruzeiro-safaris.com/3-days-amboseli-park At these eco-facilities you will be able to learn more about how important they are to secure the existence of the local environment and how you are directly helping the local community by choosing to stay in such an accommodation.

LondonTown.com: New London museum located in notorious hospital

Bethlam Royal Hospital hosts new permanent Museum Of The Mind.

LONDON, March 23, 2015 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — One of the most notorious psychiatric hospitals in history – Bethlam Royal Hospital, which gave its name to the word ‘bedlam’ – will be opening a pioneering gallery and museum on its premises this month. The new displays will be filled with the personal stories – both historic and contemporary – of those who have experienced mental health difficulties and will explore the long, controversial and often misunderstood history of Bethlem, founded 1247 in central London. Bethlem Gallery and Museum of the Mind opens on 19 February 2015. The Bethlam Royal Hospital has occupied various sites, including the building now used by the Imperial War Museum in Waterloo, and is now located in Beckenham, a short journey by train from the centre of London. To see other attractions in the area and learn how to get to Beckenham, as well as finding up-to-date information on hotels in London, see LondonTown.com.

The Bethlem Gallery and Museum of the Mind will occupy the hospital’s original 1930s administration building and celebrate the lives and achievements of those living with mental ill-health. Themed gallery spaces will explore the reasons why people arrive at Bethlem, aiming to inspire discussion, debate and reflection on mental health issues which are as relevant today as they were in the past. The museum will house significant art and historical artefacts, almost all of which will be on display for the first time, as well as works by current artists and hospital service users.

Among the highlights are paintings and drawings by Richard Dadd, Louis Wain and Jonathan Martin, each of whom was a former Bethlem or Maudsley Hospital patient; and the oldest objects in the collection, the imposing statues, ‘Raving and Melancholy Madness’ by Caius Gabriel Cibber (c1676) which originally stood above the gates of the 17th century ‘Bedlam’ at Moorfields. They will now take their place either side of the art deco staircase directly ahead of visitors entering the new museum. Notable paintings from the internationally renowned art collection include ‘The Maze’ by William Kurelek (1953), ‘Sketch of an idea for Crazy Jane’ by Richard Dadd (1855), ‘Numb’ by Lisa Biles (2009) and ‘Phrenology’ by Louis Wain (1911). Each of these will be on permanent display.

The exhibition will include striking images by Victorian photographer Henry Hering of Bethlem patients taken before and after treatment in order to detect their mental health conditions through facial expressions and features. The collection will also feature a key to the gates of the 18th century hospital, 19th century manacles, chains, straitjackets and other physical restraint devices, comments and letters from visitors from the 18th century up until today and 19th century admission and discharge registers.

LondonTown.com: London Zoo’s lemurs get brilliant new home

In With The Lemurs, a new home for the primates, opens next month at London Zoo.

LONDON, March 23, 2015 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — London Zoo is getting a new attraction next month in the shape of a swanky new walk-through home for the zoo’s playful troop of 16 lemurs. In With The Lemurs is a fine new base for the lemurs at the zoo, nestled as it is in the heart of leafy Regent’s Park, kitted out with the best accessories and with a desirable NW1 postcode. The new lemur attraction opens on Saturday 28th March at London Zoo. For more information on the zoo and other attractions in the area, as well as the best deals for a hotel in London, see LondonTown.com.

The lemur pen will be home to 15 ring-tail lemurs and one black and white ruffed lemur. Designed by the zoo’s expert keepers and horticulturalists,  In With The Lemurs will take visitors on a journey through the Madagascan shrub forest where the evolutionarily unique primates will be leaping, climbing and lounging all around them. Renowned sun-worshippers, the lemurs love nothing more than an afternoon spent sunbathing. With this in mind the zoo’s dedicated architects have carefully mapped the path of the sunlight on the new exhibit to ensure their basking platforms are purposefully located to maximise lounging time.

With an uncertain future in the wild, lemurs face a daily struggle to survive due to extensive habitat loss, and over-hunting. In With The Lemurs will give the zoo’s visitors a glimpse of these threats in the exhibit’s replica timber mill, highlighting the devastating effect the industry has on the lemurs’ wild habitat. Ring-tail lemurs are classified as endangered on the IUCN red-list, as are black and white ruffed lemurs, which are also listed on international conservation charity ZSL’s EDGE of Existence programme, due to the threat to their survival and evolutionary distinctiveness. The new attraction will help ensure that London Zoo remains one of Europe’s leading zoos in the way it combines fascinating attractions with sympathetic environments, following recent transformations of the enclosures for lions, tigers and gorillas. For more information on London Zoo, including location, travel information, admission prices and opening times, see LondonTown.com, the best London website for tourists and visitors to the capital.

LondonTown.com: London’s new curiosity shop celebrates the strange

Hackney museum opens in November with a dedication to the macabre and the decadent

LONDON, October 09, 2014 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — London will welcome an odd new addition to its vast rank of fascinating museums and galleries next month, with the opening of the Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art And Natural History in Hackney. The museum is the work of Viktor Wynd, the creator and host of The Last Tuesday Society, a multidisciplinary celebration of the strange, uncanny and decadent that acts as a literary salon, art gallery and club night. The museum will open to the public on November 7th. For more about the museum’s opening times, and to find a cheap hotel in London, see LondonTown.com.

The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art And Natural History is the work of a singular mind, containing everything from dodo bones to McDonald’s Happy Meal toys, Old Masters to two-headed kittens, all taken from Wynd’s own collection of the fascinating and the macabre. The museum will be divided into two parts: the Upper Galleries, which will host two art exhibitions a year, and the double-vaulted basement Wunderkabinett, displaying the permanent collection of international antique oddities in custom-built and salvaged museum and jewellery cases. The first exhibition at the Upper Galleries will highlight the extraordinary work of the English Surrealists and Crypto-Surrealists, from Leonora Carrington to Austin Osman Spare.

The museum will also further enliven this rarely dull corner of London with a packed schedule of talks and demonstrations, ranging from aquarium husbandry to taxidermy. These will allow visitors to plunge deeper into the world of curiosity, whilst sipping cocktails and nibbling snacks prepared by the museum café and bar. For the particularly adventurous, The Lion Room – tucked deep in the bowels of the lower galleries – is available for private hire for dinners and intimate encounters for up to ten people. Seated on deep velvet banquettes, guests will dine off a sarcophagus holding a 19th-century human skeleton, surrounded by erotica and overlooked by a caged lion skeleton and a disturbingly powerful Mervyn Peake painting. For more information, see LondonTown.com.

This is a unique event where no evening is the same as contributors change according to who is available that night. A comedian who happens to be in town may rock up with a guitar and join in; a learned scientist may come on and lecture in quantum physics while performing magic tricks. No one ever knows quite what will happen, least of all Ince himself.

Expected to show up at some point this year are: Lee Mack, Marcus du Sautoy, John Hegley, Bridget Christie, Jonny & the Baptists, Scroobius Pip, Mark Watson, Richard Herring, Phil Jeays, Steve Backshall, Marcus Brigstocke and Shappi Khorsandi.

Ince has said this will be the last year of Nine Lessons…. Tickets are £25 (£15 concessions) and are already selling fast. Money raised from the concerts will go to the Rationalist Association, publishers of The New Humanist magazine. The latest news on each evening’s line up can be found on their website rationalist.org.uk.

Booking a London hotel through LondonTown.com allows you to pinpoint the nearest hotels to the theatre, and to find the rooms with the best rates.

The South Humber Connection – FirstGroup firms unite to provide discounted tickets to London

First Hull Trains and First TransPennine Express have joined forces to bring people living on the south bank of the River Humber some great value train fares to and from London.

People can now travel for less from stations across the region into the capital thanks to a new joint ticketing scheme between the two operators. The tickets, which are available from as little as £10 each way, enable travelers from Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town, Habrough, Barnetbyand Scunthorpe to buy a through ticket at a cheaper rate to London and back again.

David Pritchard, from First Hull Trains, said: “We’ve been looking at ways we can reach out to passengers travelling to London on services which feed into the stations we serve for some time and these joint fares seem to be a great way of doing it.

“Many people use our services anyway but by working with our colleagues at First TransPennineExpress,we have been able to take some of the hassle out of travelling and buying tickets.

“We are always looking to make all our journeys as trouble-free and as relaxing as possible and think this will represent a great offer for many people.”

The move comes as First Hull Trains has also launched its biggest ever ticket promotion since the company was launched in 2000. People taking advantage of the South Humber Connection service will be able to snap up standard class tickets from as little as £10 and First Class from only £36.

The partnership has been welcomed by independent rail user groups which exist to promote the improvement of rail services for people across the region.

David Walford of Rail Development Humber said: “First Hull Trains has produced a similar product for north bank stations and here we see another example of a move towards greater integration of transport providers, this time extending to people acrossNorth and North East Lincolnshire.

“It’s great to see First Hull Trains using its position to the benefit of more people than those at the stations which it immediately serves.

“Anything that makes throughtravel more simple and better value for the passenger is to be warmly greeted.”

With prices starting at just £10, you canbook tickets at your local staffed station, through www.hulltrains.co.uk or www.tpexpress.co.uk.
