Ensure Your Perfumes and Toiletries Meet the Air Travel Guidelines

You know how it is when you’re preparing for your long-awaiting summer holiday or weekend away, and you’re going through your list to make sure you’ve packed all of your essentials. You’ve got your favourite perfume, and your all important hair serum to help you tackle the humidity, but then you remember; will you actually be able to take them on the plane?

The European Commission has recently announced that the limit on liquids, gels and aerosols that can be carried in hand luggage will be set at 100ml permanently. Furthermore, all liquids should be stored in clear plastic bags that can be sealed at the top, to ensure that airport security officials can see that you are taking only permitted liquids on board the flight, and in the right quantities.

Although the EU insists that these measures are vital for the ongoing safety of the passengers, travellers have been split in their opinions on the rules. According to a survey of almost 5000 Brits on travel review website TripAdvisor, 40 per cent of British travellers believe that the 100ml limit on hand luggage liquids does not make them feel any safer on their flight, while 47 per cent said the regulations did reassure them of their safety.

Regardless of whether you agree with them or not, these regulations are seemingly here to stay. So if you are jetting off on your holidays this summer, specifically if you are travelling with just a carry-on bag, then you should ensure that all of your perfumes, toiletries and other liquid bottles meet these regulations.

Online perfume retailer Fragrance Direct has perfumes and toiletries from some of the biggest brands on the market, and some of the most popular perfumes are now available from their online store in miniature “travel” versions that make them perfect for carrying in your hand luggage.

There are travel-friendly versions of some of the most popular perfumes on the market today, so why not stock up on the travel versions of the big name perfumes, such as Calvin Klein CK One Shock or Paco Rabanne 1 Million, to keep in your hand luggage and ensure you stay fresh during your journey, and you can store your larger beauty essentials in your suitcase.

You don’t have to be without your beauty favourites during your summer holidays, but you will have to ensure. To stock up on your holiday beauty products, and to view all of the travel perfumes, toiletries and other essentials that conform with EU flying regulations, visit the Fragrance Direct website at http://www.fragrancedirect.co.uk/

The Much-Anticipated Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa, Australia’s First Luxury Conservation-Based Resort, Opens

The much-anticipated Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa, Australia’s first luxury conservation-based resort and Emirates Hotels & Resorts’ first development outside Dubai, has welcomed its first guests.

Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa

The A$125 million project, built on the same principles as Emirates’ acclaimed Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa, combines the expectations of the high-end traveller with a commitment to broader social, ecological and environmental sustainability. Wolgan Valley is Emirates’ first luxury resort in Australia.

Located between two of Australia’s most prominent national parks and bordering the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa features 40 individual secluded suites, and is fully integrated into its environment, supporting wide-ranging conservation practices. The resort occupies only two per cent of its 4,000 acre land, while the remaining area is dedicated as a wildlife reserve.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group, said: “Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa’s combination of iconic location, understated luxury, privacy and outstanding conservation values is unparalleled in Australia. Heralding a new era of luxury travel in the country, the resort actively protects its surrounding habitat and indigenous wildlife species while delivering the first-class standards and quality expected from luxury resorts.

“Since the opening of Al Maha a decade ago, we have built our businesses on the basis of being sustainable and environmentally aware; and leading in wildlife conservation, in particular the protection of endangered and threatened species. With the opening of Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa in Australia, we are expanding our unique luxury conservation-based resort philosophy into a different country, a different continent and a different ecological environment.”

Wolgan Valley was selected by Emirates after an extensive research for a location that lent itself to world-class conservation-based practices. Australia is an important destination for Emirates, and Wolgan Valley is an outstanding example of the Dubai-based airline’s long term commitment to the country.

“Australia has a fascinating history, heritage, and of course unique wildlife; not to mention some of the most exciting landscapes in the world. We believe Australia has great potential and we are extremely proud that Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa will not only showcase a slice of Australia’s heritage, but will also contribute to the country’s prospects for developing this calibre of conservation-based, luxury tourism,” added His Highness.

Wolgan Valley is rich in historical significance. Charles Darwin was a visitor in 1836 and the property’s original homestead, which dates back to 1832, has been fully restored to its former glory, providing a fascinating glimpse of the region’s heritage for guests.

In addition to the flights to Punta Cana, the airline is also increasing flights to other winter sun hot-spots in the region such as St Lucia (from three to five flights a week), Barbados (from nine to ten) and Port of Spain, Trinidad (from three to five). Overall, BA will now fly 45 times a week to the Caribbean.

Richard Tams, head of sales at British Airways, said; “These new routes and increased frequencies underline our commitment to the Caribbean. It’s a popular destination with our customers and it’s due to demand that we’re increasing the number of flights to the region. We now operate to 13 destinations in the Caribbean – more than any other UK airline.”

Holidays in the Dominican Republic mean relaxing on sun-kissed beaches and snorkelling above colourful reefs, strolling along the 16th-century cobblestone streets of the capital in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone or taking a hiking holiday in the Dominican Republic’s forested inland.

British Airways has a wide range of hotels in the Dominican Republic, like the 5* Dreams Palm Beach which is situated in an idyllic location, on a gorgeous beach with luxury accommodation and a fantastic kids Explorer’s Club. Alternatively, those looking for pure relaxation, can try the 5* Zoetry Agua Punta Cana, offering complimentary private chauffeured return airport transfers rounding up a holiday in style.

All the British Airways hotels in the Dominican Republic have easy access to some of the most beautiful beaches and range from large, attractive, low-rise resorts to smaller, more intimate hotels, ensuring British Airways has a great selection of 3* to 5* hotels, covering a wide variety of tastes and a mixture of budgets too.

New Executive Club Incentives By British Airways

For the first time, British Airways is offering customers flying on discount economy tickets the opportunity to earn Executive Club tier points to help them ascend the blue, silver and gold ranks of the airline’s loyalty scheme.

The permanent change to the Executive Club follows a successful trial after members said such an improvement would be top of their wish list.

Ian Romanis, British Airways’ head of loyalty, said: “We’ve been listening to our members and rolling out a host of new benefits for the British Airways Executive Club. This is the latest initiative and our customers tell us they’re delighted we’ve made this change. It brings real value to members, allowing them to either move more easily up the tiers, or simply maintain their status, regardless of the type of ticket they’re on”.

The changes mean that Silver and Gold Executive Club members will find it simpler to maintain their status and the benefits associated with them, including access to 150 lounges worldwide, including British Airways’ £60 million Galleries lounge complex at Terminal 5.

Customers in Euro Traveller (shorthaul economy) will receive five tier points while those in World Traveller (longhaul economy) will receive 15 tier points with every booking.

Other recent enhancements to the BA Executive Club scheme include the ability for Gold Card holders to book any route, cabin or date for double the cost of the standard redemption rate, provided they book 30 days or more in advance, and the capicity for blue members can make it to Silver, and Silvers can maintain their status by taking 50 flights.

No points are needed to become a blue member but 600 points or 50 flights with the airline are needed to become a silver member and then 1500 points are needed to be a gold member.
