Top 10 Nairobi Day Tours and Masai Mara Safaris in Kenya

The Migration Starts in Masai Mara Early in 2017

Nairobi, Kenya, 2017-Jun-13 — /EPR TRAVEL NEWS/ — The migration of wildebeests and zebras have now entered the Mara. This has been confirmed today (7th June, 2017) after a fact finding mission round the entry points along the Mara and Serengeti border. Though this is still in its’ initial stages, every indication shows that the stage is set for the world’s most fascinating wildlife spectacle. A few herds of mainly zebras and wildebeest have crossed the border near sand river gate. They could be seen this morning taking their traditional route towards Roan hill, and some have already crossed the main road to the Mara river from Sekenani gate. Their movement however is slower because of the amount of grass in their way. Since April this year we have continued having intermittent rains which has made the plains covered in long green grass. we are still experiencing sporadic rain showers.

Many travelers come to Africa in search of the “big five”: buffalo, lions, leopards, elephants and rhinoceroses. The chance to get close to these animals in their natural habitats is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but your trip to the Africa is anything but a trip to the zoo. Safaris can be physically taxing and strenuous, and you may not see all the animals you expected. Here are 5 Reasons to go on Safari in East Africa during the Shoulder & Low Seasons

  1. Save Money East Africa is not the cheapest of African regions to visit. As the traditional heartland of African wildlife safaris, the prices in East Africa are higher than in most Southern African countries. These higher costs can put budget conscious travelers off, but the good news is that prices drop during the off-peak times of the year, bringing these classical safari destinations within reach. One of the reasons prices fall is because mainstream travel advice is to avoid the rainy seasons and that winter game viewing is best. Also, most travelers tend to travel during the northern hemisphere summer and over Christmas and New Years.
  2. You can save between 20 and 40% on safaris outside of the high and peak season.
  3. It’s not just the safari packages that are cheaper in low season, the accommodation rates drop saving you money on pre and post tour accommodation. Activities are also offered at reduced prices, as are day trips.
  4. If you’re travelling independently in Kenya during low season you also have more leverage for bargaining and negotiating better deals too.
  5. Flights are also cheaper, due to lower demand! All-in-all it can make an otherwise too expensive Nairobi safari affordable. We are able to enjoy the amazing moorlands, the beautiful snowcaps, mysterious oceans and seas and incredible wildlife. However, it is our responsibility to ensure that whilst we enjoy the marvels of this world we should be conscious of maintaining the conservation of these wonders.

The shoulder seasons which fall between the low and peak periods offer similar advantages to the low seasons. Falling at the start and end of the rains, the shoulder seasons are often the best time to go on safari travel in Kenyas Amboseli, Lake Nakuru and in terms of balancing cost, game viewing, visitor numbers and weather. The shoulder season between the long and short rains – from January to March, is actually considered by some safari veterans to be the best time to go game viewing in Kenya and Tanzania.

Superbreak Gets Ready To Take Part In 3 Peak Challenge

Superbreak, the UK based tour operator, has announced its staff’s biggest challenge yet in aid of the Help for Heroes charity, as they attempt the infamous Three Peaks Challenge.

On the 17th July, 14 staff members from Superbreak will start their gruelling climb as they attempt the National Three Peaks Challenge. The gruelling climb will see the group start at the bottom of Snowdon in Wales, before taking a 4 hour drive to scale the heights of the Scafell Pike in the heart of Cumbria. Both climbs are expected to take the group over 5 hours and the journey doesn’t end there. On the 18th July, Superbreak staff will take on the National Three Peaks’ highest mountain – Ben Nevis.

Founded in October 2007, Help for Heroes offers practical support and help to wounded servicemen and women from Afghanistan and Iraq on their return to the UK. The charity’s message is clear and simple: to help ordinary people doing extraordinary things to live with the consequences of being wounded in the service of their country. The money raised goes towards projects such as funding the new swimming pool and gym complex at DRMC Headley Court to help wounded servicemen and women rehabilitate.

Superbreak Packs In More Customer Experience With Microformats

Superbreak, the short break specialist, has enhanced the hotels and reviews section of its website to support Google’s Rich Snippets.

Rich Snippets give users convenient summary information about their search results at a glance. Google currently supports data about reviews and people so, when users search for a product or service, they can easily see reviews and ratings, and when searching for a person, they’ll get help distinguishing between people with the same name.

Superbreak is among the first in the travel industry to utilise the new Rich Snippets feature and expect to gain new visibility on Google’s search result pages, with Google’s own experiments showing that users are more likely to click through if they see relevant and useful information from the Web page.

With research showing that eight out of ten consumers seek reviews as part of the shopping process, this access to the opinions and experiences of other users is transforming the way that people make purchase decisions.

Superbreak Sees Success In Theatre Breaks

Superbreak, the UK short break operator, has reported the success of its theatre breaks in 2009. As the year drew to a close, Superbreak made its 50,000th booking for a West End theatre package.

The undisputed hit of the 2009 West End theatre programme was Lionel Bart’s ‘Oliver!’, which drew packed audiences with its clever casting of established big name stars such as Rowan Atkinson and Griff Rhys Jones. Perennial favourites among theatre fans such as ‘Lion King’, ‘Dirty Dancing’ and ‘Wicked’ also proved to be popular.

Superbreak’s Marketing Director, Will Dunnett, said: “I’m certain 2010 will be the year of one or two surprises in the West End. ‘Love Never Dies’ promises to be the show of the year, and I’m certain it will be able to live up to comparisons as a sequel to the ever popular ‘Phantom of the Opera’. Film success and children power combined will also make ‘Shrek’ a sure fire hit at the box office. A London hotel and a trip to the theatre remains fantastic value and, because you will be staying in one of our fantastic selection of London Hotels, when you return f r o m the theatre you’ll get the star treatment yourself.”

Superbreak predicts similar success in 2010 for London theatre breaks. March will see the eagerly anticipated ‘Phantom…’ sequel, Love Never Dies open on the West End while Andrew Lloyd Webber’s long-awaited production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ is also set to debut in 2010. ‘Shrek, The Musical’ is also a highly anticipated show, following its opening on Broadway to rave reviews.

The New Year also sees Superbreak branching out into new territory with plenty of new productions opening. These include ‘Enron’ starring Samuel West and the star studded ‘The Misanthrope’ starring Hollywood favourites Keira Knightley and Damian Lewis. ‘Cat On A Hot Tin Roof’ also opens in 2010 at the Novello Theatre, Aldwych and stars James Earl Jones, Phylicia Rashid, Adrian Lester and Sanaa Lathan.

Hotels.com Makes Dublin Unrecognisable To A Third Of Irish People

New research from Hotels.com has shown that one in three Irish people fail to recognise their own capital city landscape without its iconic Ha’penny Bridge. An incredible 32% of Irish people were stumped by an image of their capital city when the memorable bridge was airbrushed out of the picture. While 68% weren’t fooled, 28% confused the image of Dublin with Amsterdam.

UK neighbours also struggled to recognise Dublin city’s landscape when asked to identify it without the Ha’penny Bridge. 75% of those surveyed in the UK thought Dublin was Amsterdam in the photo, with only 22% recognising the city without the landmark.

The landmark quiz also revealed that the Irish were quicker to recognise other cities, including London (88%), Paris (87%) and Sydney (76%) before their own home town, even when the key landmarks (Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower and the Opera House) in these cities were omitted from the view.

Hotels.com polled more than 10,000 travellers across the globe, to see just how many cities they recognised after a key landmark had been removed.

Nearly two thirds (63%) of Irish people have travelled to a city just to see an iconic landmark, according to the findings. Of the world’s most famous landmarks, the overall favourites were the Eiffel Tower in Paris (15%), while one in ten chose New York’s Empire State Building (10%) and San Francisco’s Golden Bridge (10%). These landmarks were followed in popularity by the Taj Mahal in India and The Vatican in Rome.

Despite the rise in the UK of the mini break, the research showed that it’s our neighbouring European cities that we know the least. Less than half (48%) of Irish travellers recognised Barcelona without Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia; 38% spotted Pisa without its Leaning Tower, and just 36% recognised Berlin without the Berlin TV Tower.

Ireland fared better when looking across the water to the UK however, with a greater number of Irish people recognising the London skyline (89%) without Big Ben than the Brits themselves. Only 83% of British people surveyed recognised their own capital without the iconic clock.

When it comes to long haul destinations, iconic landmarks seem to resonate well in the visual memory. The Hotels.com research showed that over three quarters of all Irish (76%) recognised Sydney without the Opera House and similarly Rio was identified correctly by 81% of travellers even after the Christ the Redeemer statue had been removed.

Alison Couper, Communications Director for Hotels.com, said: “It’s interesting to see just how important a city’s iconic landmark is when it comes to recognising the destination. This quirky survey shows that it is the cities which have a famous and world renowned landmark, such as the Sydney Opera House or the Eiffel Tower that tend to resonate more in our minds.”

Family Forest Fun for Peter Andre at Center Parcs

On 16th October, Center Parcs welcomed Peter Andre and his family to Elveden Forest, Suffolk to enjoy a short break with his family at the forest retreat. We asked him about his experience at Elveden Forest to see if it lived up to his expectations.

Family Forest Fun for Peter Andre at Center Parcs

Have you ever been to Center Parcs before this visit?

No, this was my first time to Center Parcs. I loved every minute of it, with so much for families to do.

Did you enjoy your weekend break at Center Parcs?

It was amazing, there was so much choice in the way of activities. You could never get bored and whatever the weather, there is always lots to do as a family.

Were there any activities you particularly enjoyed?

We loved the bikes. Junior had his own little bike, and Princess was in a little buggy on the back of mine. My brother Mike and I had such a laugh with the kids cycling through the forest.

What did your children enjoy most during your break?

I think the children enjoyed the ‘messy play’ the most. They were both covered in paint and spaghetti by the end of it!

Did you like your accommodation?

The accommodation was perfect for us. We were very comfortable there with loads of room and we had a pool table – so what more could you ask for? It was great space for entertaining in – we had the whole team in the lodge whilst we were filming. My manager Claire cooked dinner for us in there as well – which was great.

Would you bring your family back to Center Parcs?

Definitely, hopefully soon!

During their stay, Peter Andre and his family enjoyed an evening meal at Center Parcs’ American themed diner, Hucks, lunch at the Pancake House and afternoon meal at Foresters Inn.

After exploring the forest on bikes, Peter, Princess and Junior took part in the Messy Play and Lets Make It activities at the Time Out Club. Peter also used the gym facilities and had a relaxing massage at the Aqua Sana Spa
