Figure Out Figure In showcases Tony Cragg’s work in Paris

British artist Tony Cragg is the focus of an exhibition entitled Figure In Figure Out at Paris’s prestigious Louvre museum.

Bronze, wood, fibreglass and marble creations are included in the display, which highlights Cragg’s diverse approach to art.

It costs €10 (£8.75) to enter the Louvre. Cragg’s work will be on show in the Cour Marly and Cour Puget sections.

British Airways Creates Transatlantic Shuttle Service

British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia have announced they will deliver more benefits to customers as schedules are coordinated across the North Atlantic and more destinations are launched in summer 2011.

From March 27, American Airlines and British Airways will effectively create a transatlantic shuttle service between the top US-UK routes by aligning the timing on their schedules.

The biggest change is on the Heathrow – New York route. Previously, five of the 11 daily flights to New York left Heathrow at almost exactly the same time, leaving gaps of up to three hours between services.

Two of the three flights to Miami from London clashed around 10am, and these have now been split to leave at 10am and 11am. The 1.30pm has moved to 1.35pm.

The joint business will also now give customers the chance to fly direct between New York (JFK) and Budapest starting from April 5, and between Chicago and Helsinki, both seven times a week on American Airlines from May 1.

British Airways will launch daily flights to San Diego from June 1, marking the airline’s return to the route after eight years. Customers can save by booking a flight and hotel package for their San Diego holidays at the same time on plus benefit from a 24 hour in-resort support and expertly chosen hotels which adhere to stringent health and safety criteria.

More Travel press releases breaks records with Dancing On Ice 2011 packages has reported that while the overall viewing figures for the 2011 series of Dancing on Ice may not have reached the heights of the show’s first airing in 2006, the coach holidays and short breaks website latest revenue figures show an unprecedented year-on-year increase of over 1000% in packages for the live tour.

The 5th live tour, hosted by Andi Peters and featuring skating legends Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean, is showing at 7 major venues across the UK over 28 dates. Celebrity skaters lining up to appear include Radio 1’s ‘Comedy Dave’, Vanilla Ice and 2010 winner Hayley Tammadon, as well as Sunday’s finalists Laura Hamilton, Chloe Madeley and newly-crowned 2011 winner, Sam Attwater.

The incredible increase in breaks is thought to be down to the growing popularity of the TV series, heightened media attention surrounding catty judge Jason Gardiner, as well as the continued following of loyal Torvill and Dean fans looking to relive the moment the pair skated their way to gold at the 1984 Winter Olympics with Bolero.

Rachel Jones,’s Online PR & Marketing co-ordinator commented: “It’s unusual to see an increase like this for a particular event, but we believe that the emergence of other dance shows like So You Think You Can Dance, Comic Relief’s Let’s Dance and Strictly Come Dancing have made dance-related breaks overall incredibly popular.”

The coach holidays consolidator also believes that the success of this year’s live Dancing On Ice tours could be due to the profiles of this year’s celebs, like lovable Essex lad Jeff Brazier and Loose Women’s Denise Welch.

Prospect of Royal Wedding and London Olympics Excites City Centre Hotel Brand Mint Hotel

Whilst the global recession has taken its toll across a broad spectrum of industries, forcing spending cuts, staff reductions and revenue depletion, the hotel industry in London has defied such a decline.

Its ability to not only maintain a level playing field, but to continue to grow year-on-year, has made the London hotel market a “bubble” of financial security amidst an otherwise volatile hotel sector.

For Mint Hotel, the fomer City Inn Brand, the figures represent an encouraging level of growth at an uncertain period:

“The improvement of average daily rate and revenue available per room over the past year is fantastic news. Although occupancy dipped slightly, levels have remained relatively high, and this will only improve with the upcoming events in London – the Royal Wedding and the 2012 London Olympics.”

That the London market has experienced such resilient growth in contrast with the rest of the UK is testament to the innovation and adaptability of London hoteliers.

The report on the hotel industry in London was compiled by an independent accountancy firm, whose findings have reassured the hospitality sector in the capital. However, some industry commentators have voiced concerns over the sustainability of such buoyancy.

The report found that the ADR (average daily rate) grew by 8.2% year-on-year in February 2011, whilst the revenue per available room rose by 4.1%.

Industry experts have commented on the significance of the coming months, asserting that “London is under-hotelled”. His predictions draw on the expected surge in vistors over the next 12 – 18 months as a direct result of the Olympics in July 2012.

However, with the recent opening of a new hotel near the Tower of London, Mint Hotel are less worried about their ability to cope with heightened demand:

“The latest addition to our portfolio is the Tower of London hotel, located only a few minutes walk from the eponymous landmark as well as the Fenchurch Street and Tower Hill stations.

Real Time Hotel Rates Within Google Maps Results Embraced by The Award-Winning Mint Hotel

Earlier this year came the launch of a new Google Maps feature which aggregates real-time hotel rates – courtesy of various booking sites such as and – and displays them alongside the hotel results. This addition to the listings, in which average price and availability are now available as well as customer reviews and location, has received mixed reviews from industry experts.

While some view the development as a hindrance to hotels through the pre-eminent positioning afforded to Online Travel Agency (OTAs) booking options, independent city centre hotels brand Mint has not been phased by the latest addition to Google Maps. A spokesperson from the hotel company said:

“Although there is a risk of losing out to some of the listed OTAs, this does not have a huge impact on the hotel itself. In fact, for Mint Hotel, customers will always receive a better deal when dealing with the hotel directly.”

The average price is situated next to a drop down menu within which users can access a list of various sites on which the particular hotel room can be booked, and at what price. The idea was initially introduced to online travel agencies such as Expedia, Travelocity, and Priceline, whose respective rates are now available in real-time alongside hotel results.

And beginning this year, Midwesterners in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana will get to see what quilting is all about at the debut of the spring edition of International Quilt Festival in Cincinnati!

New edition of International Quilt Festival comes to Queen City

“We are very excited to bring the show to the Queen City,” says Festival Founder and Director Karey Bresenhan, who also oversees other editions of Festival in Long Beach and Houston — the latter of which annually draws more than 60,000 attendees! “The area has always been rich with quilters and fabric artists, and a lot of them have never been to a show of this size before!”

International Quilt Festival/Cincinnati will take place April 8-10 at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio . Classes will begin April 7, and Preview Night will be held the same day from 5-9 p.m.

Quilting is big business! As reported in the most recent Quilting in America™ survey, there are more than 21 million quilters in the U.S. who spend nearly $3.6 billion annually on their passion. There will be almost 400 shopping booths offering antique and contemporary quilts and fabrics, patterns, notions, and books for the quilting and sewing enthusiast. Festival visitors will also find everything from antiques, crafts, and home décor items to clothing, jewelry, bags, and other accessories.

On display will be over 500 incredible quilts and other works of fabric art in 18 different special exhibits. These textile artworks run the gamut from antique time-honored patterns to cutting-edge contemporary fabric artistry.

More Travel press releases urges customers to book in advance to avoid paying elevated charges for car hire this summer

Top price comparison website is advising British travellers who want to hire people carriers and MPVs this summer to act quickly. A high demand is anticipated during the school holidays, which should cause rental costs to soar.’s figures suggest that the best way to save money on your choice of large vehicle is by booking early. Prices could rise by as much as 50% in the next few months, especially in popular destinations such as Malaga, Paris and Nice, while the cost of hiring a vehicle at the moment is still relatively low.

If car rental prices in Alicante mirror those of last August, they can be expected to almost double in the next six months, rising from the current price of just £16* a day to as much as £31.

This was confirmed recently by Managing Director Gareth Robinson, who commented: “Hiring an MPV or a people carrier has become rather popular in the last few years, as groups of friends and family get together to share their holidays along with the cost of vehicle hire.

Booking car hire early can make a huge difference to your costs, as the difference in prices between March and August could be as much as £150, which was certainly the case last year.”

This is the perfect time to arrange car hire for August, as the current prices start from just £18* per day from Larnaca Airport, dropping to £17* per day when you collect your desired vehicle from Malaga Airport.
