London Premier Hotels: London welcomes movie lovers at screening of Oscar nominees

Exploring the prime tourist spots and experiencing festivals and carnivals are very common approaches towards enjoying a London trip. The tourist spots will stand at their positions for ever and the festivals would happen every year according to the calendar. But to make their London trip memorable, visitors must try to be a part of something,
which is unusual. The New Year is still very young and the festive mood is quite steady in London. People are enjoying their time by indulging in diverse activities and giving priority to entertainment.

For people who love to add the essence of entertainment in their holiday trips, this is a great time to be at London. It’s the time to experience the cinema craze in London. Oscar nominations for this year have just been announced and theaters across London now extend towards movie buffs wonderful opportunity to watch the movies that are likely to bag the iconic Golden trophy at the Awards Ceremony. Cinema lovers should not the miss the opportunity of watching and judging the nominated movies before their fate get decided at Los Angeles a few days later.

Right now some of the top cinema houses in London city are screening movies like Wolf of Wall Street, American Hustle and 12 Years A Slave. Queues are getting longer and one should rush to ensure a good seat inside the hall. To make the experience of watching a movie very special, visitors may also opt for Immersive Cinema, a new concept that has turned into a trend in the last few years. A specialty of the Future Cinema and Secret Cinema, the Immersive Cinema gives audiences a scope to take part in the movie they are watching.

Screening of such movies is done at selected locations with mirroring the scenery in the movie. Very recently, screening of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest was held at a hospital and to bring the effect of the venue on the movie, the organizers converted the venue into a mental institution and actors were seen portraying roles of patients and doctors. Many organizers even allow audiences to take part in various activities before the start of the movie and are also provided with dresses that characters of the movie are seen wearing. Same style was followed during the screening of Casablanca at the Roxy in Shadwell. To bring the movie effect, the venue was given the look of a Moroccan hang-out of 1940s and people were seen roaming here and there dressed up like American GIs and Nazi officers.

To be a part of this very special kind of screening, interested people need to sign up to the mailing list of the organizers. Audiences need to make sure that details of the movie shown to them are kept secret until they arrive at the venue. As the procedure goes, audiences are given instructions about time and place to turn up and they are also told what to wear and bring.

Since Central London and its prestigious West End are ornamented with lots of cinema halls, getting a scope of enjoying Immersive Cinema should not be difficult. Yet staying at the Shaftesbury Premier London Paddington would be a smart decision since the hotel is very close to the Paddington Underground Railway Terminus from where trains to all major cinema venues in London are frequently available.

Shaftesbury Premier London Paddington, a London Premier Hotel is located at 27 Devonshire Terrace, Paddington and to book a room there one can either call at +44 (0) 20 7745 1212 or log on to, the official website of the London Premier Hotels.

More Travel press releases ‘Pleased to meet Q’ says Camden as London’s latest BBQ joint fires up grills

Set to open in late February, Q Grill is the latest example of London’s love affair with all things grilled, smoked and American. The craze for down-home barbecue style cuisine seems set to continue into 2014 and Q Grill looks like a very good reason not to put down the BBQ sauce just yet.

Q Grill arrives in Camden (Chalk Farm Road to be precise) courtesy of esteemed restaurateur Des McDonald (formerly of Caprice Holdings), hot on the heels of his successful Fish and Chips venture in Islington last year. He describes his foray into the well-populated BBQ dining scene as coupling the ‘sweet tasting BBQ flavours of a traditional Memphis smokehouse with our own unique approach’.

Heading up the kitchen will be Phil Eagle, a fellow alumnus of Le Caprice whose CV also boasts a spell as Head Chef at Hix. He will oversee a menu that won’t be short of finger lickin’ meaty offerings like Josper grilled steaks and burgers, pecan roasted chicken, kielbas a hot dogs and pulled pork sandwiches. More Travel press releases Tower Of London unveils plans for WWI commemorations

As London’s venues prepare for a raft of events in 2014 to commemorate the anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War, the Tower of London has announced plans to mark the occasion with a major art installation and programme of events. The Tower of London is one of London’s most popular tourist attractions. It is located near Tower Bridge and is surrounded by hotels, bars and restaurants to suit every budget. For visitors hoping to find a hotel in London, the website is an essential port of call as it contains the latest information on room rates at thousands of hotels, including those close to the historic Tower Of London.

Over nearly 1000 years of history, this international icon has been a home to royalty, a fortress, a prison and a zoo. It also has a long association with the armed forces – the famous Beefeaters are all former soldiers who work at the Tower after having retired from Army life. During the First World War, the Tower was used as a place to train British soldiers and imprison German ones. It was also used as a place of execution for German spies. This history will be remembered in the form of a collaboration between ceramic artist Paul Cummins and stage designer Tom Piper, who will create an installation of 888,246 ceramic poppies – one for each British and Colonial fatality during the war – to be unveiled on 5 August 2014, one hundred years since the first full day of Britain’s involvement in the First World War.

The poppies, a symbol of remembrance in the UK, will encircle the iconic landmark, creating not only a powerful visual commemoration but also an inspiring setting for performance and educational events, as well as providing a space for personal reflection. The scale of the installation intends to reflect the magnitude of such an important centenary. A programme of events will accompany the installation, which will remain until 11 am on 11 November 2014.
